Provider Referral

At The Grant Group, we recognize that one of our primary responsibilities to our patients is to ensure that they receive the best care possible to address their unique needs. That being said, there are occasions when our team is unable to meet a patient’s needs because they fall out of our scope of practice. If we are unable to treat you, we will work to give you a provider referral to another mental health professional we believe will be better suited to meet your specific needs.

Why We Provide Referrals

Mental health concerns are often more complex than we realize. Even the most educated providers may not be able to address every aspect of a patient’s needs, as it is impossible to train for every possible scenario. For example, a client who is seeking treatment for multiple conditions, such as disordered eating and various neurological issues, may require care from multiple providers. Since it is rare that a single practice is able to address each of those concerns, an office might refer the person to another practice that specializes in that specific treatment or work with another office to meet all of the patient’s needs. Operating this way ensures that patients are receiving the necessary care, attention, and resources they need for their condition.

By offering provider referrals to our patients, they can rest assured that they will receive care. Even if our office is unable to currently meet your needs, you still have options available. We will help connect you with a provider to ensure that your needs and goals are met.

How Do Referrals Work?

If our office discovers that you may require services our practice does not offer, we will begin initiating the referral process. The first step in this process is understanding the scope of your needs. Our team of clinicians will work with you to clearly outline your goals. If, through this conversation, our providers discover that they will not be able to assist you, we will then explain our referral process.

After this discussion, we will begin searching for an appropriate provider. Our office maintains a list of trusted mental health professionals throughout the Bedford area that focus on various services. Once we have reviewed this list, we will provide you with a list of providers that specialize in the care you are seeking. If you are unhappy with the list or have additional needs that we did not previously discuss, we are happy to work with you to connect you with a provider you feel comfortable with.

Once you have found a provider you would like to move forward with, we can help facilitate the transition, whether that be connecting with your new provider by email, helping you schedule your first appointment, or answering any questions you may have.

What Happens After I Am Referred to Another Provider?

After your referral is completed, you will begin working with your new provider. Unless you choose to continue receiving care at our office in conjunction with your new provider, it is unlikely that you will hear from us beyond an initial check-in. However, this does not mean that we are not here to help if needed. If you decide that you are not satisfied with your new provider, you are always welcome to contact our office for further assistance.
